Services
Life is hard. Whether it is general ups and downs, relationship difficulties, significant stressful/traumatic events, mental illness, addictions, or life transitions, speaking with a trained therapist can help provide you with the tools to make changes to the way you think, feel and engage in your life in a positive way. We currently see people ages 12+. We accept referrals from Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and are able to bill directly through Medavie Blue Cross. Our aim is to provide an individualized approach to our clients, recognizing each individuals unique experiences and needs.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a type of psychotherapy that utilizes bilateral stimulation (eye movements) to process traumatic and/or emotionally stressful memories. Repeated studies have shown that EMDR therapy can help people experience benefits to therapy, and steps towards recovery, in much less time than traditional talk therapy options. EMDR is often associated with ample research in treating trauma and PTSD, though EMDR has significant success with panic attacks, addictions, eating disorders and anxiety as well.

Individual Counselling

Our clinicians see individuals 12 years of age and older for individual counselling sessions, both in person and virtually. Our clinicians practice from a variety of therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy depending on the counsellor and the needs of the individual.

No two people grieve exactly the same. Grief can be an overwhelming and isolating experience. KCC offers grief counselling following the loss of a loved one, divorce/separation, loss of a job and struggles with infertility. Grief counselling provides a supportive space with guidance to process all of the difficult emotions associated with these loses.

Couples often seek couples counselling for a variety of reasons, improving communication, conflict resolution, infidelity, and parenting are a few of the most common. Working with a couples counsellor can support individuals to understand their own behaviour and its impact on their partner both in positive and negative ways. A counsellor can provide skills to learn better communication patterns and to rebuild/repair after an affair. Relationships can provide so much security, love and happiness, but they are difficult and challenging just the same. Couples counselling works with partners to strengthen your relationship in many ways.
Similar to EMDR, ART utilizes bilateral eye movements to process trauma and stressful memories; however, as the name suggests ART is shown to work rapidly, often providing symptom relief in 2-5 sessions. ART can be effective for anxiety, sleep disturbances, and depression in addition to trauma. See our Trauma Therapy page for more information about this emerging therapy.
